Parkland County fire crews were called to a subdivision about 20 kilometres southwest of Stony Plain, where a home was on fire.

“So at about 3:40 a.m. we had three stations paged out to a confirmed structure fire,” Parkland County deputy chief Amber Coleman said, adding that 25 firefighters responded to the fire.

Everyone inside the home managed to get out safely before fire crews arrived. A nearby witness said she heard a big explosion and saw the flames, which ended up gutting the home.
