WINNIPEG – The city is adding four new members to the Community Homeless Assistance Team (CHAT).

The CHAT program, working with Downtown Winnipeg Biz, connects homeless people to housing and employment opportunities.

“We use a strength-based approach. Instead of focusing on what people ‘need’ we focus on what that person is bringing to the table,” said Shawn Matthews, manager of safety and development with Downtown Winnipeg Biz.

Since 2013, the program has connected over 150 people with housing and more than 1,500 with support services.
