MONTREAL – Animal lovers gathered by the hundreds at Mont-Royal Park Sunday for the sixth edition of the AnimaPlus Snout and About walk against animal cruelty.
The event is organized by the AnimaPlus veterinary group and the Montreal SPCA with funds raised benefiting the Montreal SPCA.
Despite the cold drizzle, Montrealers and their four-legged furry companions eagerly took part in Sunday’s 2.5-kilometre walk on the mountain.

As the master of ceremony, Global Montreal’s weather specialist Jessica Laventure, cheered participants on and entertained the crowd.
Veterinarians were on hand to offer pet care tips, and the Montreal SPCA was offering a dog micro-chipping clinic for $30.
“Micro-chipping is very important,” said, Guénette. “When people lose their animal, it’s the only way that we can find the owner.”
The Montreal SPCA is the largest society for the protection of animals in Quebec, welcoming and caring for more than 15,000 animals per year.
The organization relies almost entirely on donations to carry out its work.
This year’s event raised $54,000. All donations will go toward caring for rescued and abandoned animals.
