Stolen car bumper returned with apology note in Airdrie

RCMP in Airdrie, Alta., are investigating the bizarre case of a stolen bumper that was returned a few days later, along with an apology note.

Sometime on the evening of May 8 or the early morning May 9, a bumper was taken from a 2015 Volkswagen GTI parked at a home in the Ravenswood neighbourhood of Airdrie. The theft was reported to Mounties.

On May 12, the bumper was returned to the home sometime during the night with a note attached. The note had an apology written on it, but did not say who carried out the theft.

The owner of the Volkswagen was left to foot the bill of repairing the car and bumper.

Airdrie RCMP consulted with RCMP Forensic Identification Services. Mounties are asking anyone with any information about the incident to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
