MUHC head Normand Rinfret to step down

MONTREAL – Normand Rinfret, head of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), will be stepping down at the end of his term in September.

He served as executive director of the MUHC for the past four years, steering the superhospital through its opening in 2015.

Rinfret took over as interim director in 2011 from the disgraced Arthur Porter after allegations surfaced that a $22-million bribe was paid to engineering firm SNC-Lavalin to get the hospital built.

Porter died in a Panama jail in 2015 after continuously denying any wrongdoing as he fought extradition to Canada.
