Presumed head of Montreal mafia, Rocco Sollecito, killed in Laval

MONTREAL – The presumed head of Montreal’s Italian mafia, Rocco Sollecito, was killed Friday morning in Laval, sources confirmed.

Police received several 911 phone calls around 8:30 a.m. as residents reported they heard “major detonations, which ended up being gun shots.”

Sollecito was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

The Sûreté du Québec has taken over the investigation, as it involves organized crime.

Officers are on the scene to determine the events leading up to the shooting.
