WINNIPEG — The Manitoba Moose have a new head coach.
On Friday, the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club announced Pascal Vincent for the Moose’s position with the American Hockey League.
Vincent, 44, has been an assistant coach with the Jets for the past five seasons. He was one of the original hires on the Jets’ coaching staff when the team moved to Winnipeg from Atlanta in 2011.
Prior to his time with the Jets, Vincent was a head coach in the QMJHL for 12 seasons with the Montreal Juniors and Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
“Coaching the Manitoba Moose is a unique opportunity for me. I have a burning desire to help this organization win hockey games,” Vincent said.
Vincent also talked about his time working at an assistant coach for the Jets.
“Working with Paul Maurice was like going to university every day. He is a great coach and a great leader,” he said.
“I am very excited. Winnipeg is home now.”
This comes just over a month after the Jets chose not to renew the contract for the team’s former coach, Keith McCambridge.

Out of 30 teams, the Moose finished third last in the American Hockey League this season. It was the team’s first season back in Winnipeg since moving to St. John’s in 2011.
Vincent is the eighth coach in Manitoba Moose history, as well as the seventh in their American Hockey League history.
