Richmond committee wants city to ban plastic packaging, bags

Richmond’s Park Committee is hoping the city will take a big step towards ‘going green’ by cracking down on plastic food packaging.

The committee is recommending a ban on plastic bags, cups, utensils and other items on all city property.

The ban would also apply to food trucks.

Stakeholders will be given a guide book encouraging them to consider different options to plastic.

Richmond’s City Council will vote on the proposal next month.
