Visitors could go inside the Technological Crime Unit’s mobile lab.

It’s a truck with a camper-like attachment that is taken to properties where officers execute search warrants.

“We can get information from cellphones, computers, tablets – any form of technological items that’s in the house,” Cst. Todd Bromley said.

Inside, there is a device that can retrieve information from hard drives without introducing information into them, and another that can access text messages on phones.

Much of Bromley’s time in the lab is spent helping the Internet Child Exploitation Unit.

“Certain types of data can only be retrieved in a split second of time, so time is of the essence. With the mobile lab we have here, we’re able to assist on the spot,” he said, adding that the lab can reduce forensic time on cases by hours.
