Veritas, a new Canadian journalism foundation, will hold an international conference in collaboration with Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) in Toronto May 14-15.
The conference, Investigative Journalism Across Borders, will consist of panel discussions and workshops on topics such as investigative interviewing techniques, audio storytelling and web scraping.
The two-day conference, sponsored by 16×9, will take place at Ryerson University’s School of Journalism.
“There’s never been a time when probing, accountability journalism has been more needed and more at risk,” said Robert Cribb, president of Veritas – Advancing Journalism in the Public Interest.
Cribb, a reporter for the Toronto Star, will also discuss the Panama Papers process, along with a number of journalists who were involved.
“The Panama Papers work also reminds us that there is more potential for impact today than ever before. This conference brings together some of the most gifted investigative journalists in North America for two days of wisdom and inspiration,” said Cribb.
16×9’s executive producer, Laurie Few, will take part in a panel discussion on the future of investigative TV in the era of mobile devices, co-productions and growing competition.
