Motorcyclist dies of injuries in collision with bus in Richmond

A motorcyclist has died of his injuries following a collision with a bus in Richmond on Tuesday afternoon.

Just after 2:30 p.m., Richmond RCMP arrived at the serious crash in Steveston between a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 1996 New Flyer bus, which was operated by the Coast Mountain Bus Company.

Mounties said the motorcycle was heavily damaged in the accident and the victim, a man in his early 40s from Fort McMurray, AB, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to hospital. The motorcyclist later died from his injuries.

The driver of the bus was not hurt and has been cooperating with police.

The Richmond RCMP’s road safety unit is investigating the collision along with the reconstruction service and the BC Coroners Service.
