2 Calgary men charged as police work to return $100K worth of stolen property

An operation in the city’s northeast has recovered over $100,000 in stolen tools, bikes and vehicles that would’ve otherwise been sold and/or traded for drugs, police said Monday.

An April 22 surveillance operation of a northeast home resulted in the seizure of items including:

  • 2007 Kawasaki KX250 dirt bike
  • 2009 Yamaha YW50 scooter
  • 2003 Polaris RMK700 snowmobile
  • 2004 Ford Explorer
  • 1997 Porsche Boxster
  • 2005 Kawasaki ZX-6 motorcycle

The items were found at a home in the 100 block of Falshire Drive N.E., along with methamphetamine worth $1,460 and heroin worth $14,350.

Daniel Sohn, 39, was charged with possession of heroin and crystal methamphetamine.

Lucas Ryan Drew, 38, faces a number of drug and stolen property-related offences.

The stolen items were thought to have been obtained during break-ins and thefts in the Calgary area.

“Investigators are now working to return as much of the stolen property as possible to its rightful owners,” police said in a release. “Officers will also work with the Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) unit to have the property shuttered.”
