Man in critical condition as police investigate attempted murder in Ahuntsic-Cartierville

MONTREAL – A 30-year-old man is in hospital fighting for his life after a shooting in Montreal’s Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough early Saturday morning.

Manuel Couture with Montreal police said officers received multiple 911 calls from residents in an apartment building on Grenet Street who reported hearing gunshots in the building.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the man inside an apartment with a gunshot wound to the upper body.

The victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Couture said the major crimes unit has taken over the investigation due to the seriousness of the man’s injuries.

Police say they fear for his life.

A forensic team was also dispatched to search the apartment for clues.

Three people were seen leaving the building around the time of the shooting but police have not determined whether they are suspects, friends of the victim or witnesses.
