Woman re-arrested after allegedly escaping police custody at Brampton hospital

A 19-year-old woman who allegedly gave police the slip while in custody at a Brampton hospital has been re-arrested and a teenager is charged with helping her escape.

Peel Regional Police said Diyana Mohamed got out of the hospital around 3 p.m. Friday and was seen leaving in a taxi with an unknown man.

Photos of the pair were released and Mohamed was re-arrested Saturday in Toronto along with her 18-year-old alleged accomplice.

Mohamed now faces an additional charge of escape lawful custody, while Tyler Obrien faces one count of assist to escape with lawful custody.

They’re both due in court Sunday.

Mohamed was initially arrested on charges of assault with a weapon, uttering death threats and theft over $5,000.
