7-year-old nominates his mom to be new woman on Canadian bank note – Apr 4, 2016

The nomination process is well underway for the first woman to be featured on the new series of bank notes.

An advisory council to help choose the iconic Canadian woman was announced Tuesday in Ottawa, where Bank of Canada governor Stephen Poloz said Finance Minister Bill Morneau will make the ultimate decision.

But for now, anyone can nominate a woman on the Bank of Canada’s site and seven-year-old student Andrin Lewis had an endearing suggestion.

Speaking to Poloz at the announcement, the second grader said he’d like to nominate his mom, who is “hilarious” and “works very hard as a teacher to buy us food.”

He said she’s amazing because she plays Wii with him and because she makes him feel special.

Once the nomination period ends on April 15, the panel will narrow the list to between 10 and 12 names.
