Saint John police seek armed man after credit union robbed

The Saint John Police Force is investigating a report of an armed robbery at the Bayview Credit Union on Main Street.

Police say the robbery happened on Wednesday about 4:45 p.m.

A man reportedly entered the bank, displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the tellers.

He left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured.

The suspect is described as an English-speaking man possibly in his 30s. He is between 5’8″ to 6′ tall with a slender to medium build.

He was wearing large, dark-coloured sun glasses and a dark-coloured scarf which covered the lower half of his face. He was also wearing a dark toque, black jacket, black pants and dark boots.

Police say he fled from the bank on foot before witnesses saw him getting into a newer-model white-coloured Chevrolet vehicle with Nova Scotia plates.
