RCMP warn of poor road conditions around Lethbridge

RCMP in southern Alberta warned of severe road conditions in the Lethbridge region early Friday morning because of slushy snow and freezing rain.

Mounties said RCMP in Coaldale and Picture Butte detachments responded to numerous incidents of vehicles going off the highway due to severe road conditions.

Extremely poor visibility was reported around Lethbridge, including Highway 3, Highway 23 and Highway 25.

As of 6 a.m., the temperature was hovering around freezing and light snow was reported by Environment Canada.

Police said conditions appeared to improve throughout the morning, and no serious crashes were reported.
