WINNIPEG – Manitoba Progressive Conservative Leader Brian Pallister is promising to cut health-care wait times if the party wins the April 19 election.

Pallister says he would set up a committee, which would include front-line workers, to recommend steps to reduce wait times.

He says the aim would be to have a report back within six months to ensure measures were taken quickly.

Statistics from the Canadian Institute of Health Information and other agencies have shown Manitoba emergency rooms have among the longest wait times in the country.

NDP Leader Greg Selinger says the Tory promise is vague and contains no formal commitment.
