Rockets clipped by Americans

KENNEWICK, WASHINGTON — The Tri-City Americans defeated the Kelowna Rockets 6-4 on Sunday at the Toyota Centre in Kennewick, Washington as the Rockets closed out a stretch of four games in five nights with a loss.

The loss dropped Kelowna’s record to 46-19-4-0 on the season as the team heads into the final week of the WHL regular season.

Tyson Baillie had his 41st goal of the season in a losing cause while Calvin Thurkauf, Tanner Wishnowski and Rourke Chartier also scored for the Rockets, who led 3-2 and 4-3 in the second period before Tri-City took the lead for good late in the period. 

Shots were tied 35-35 in the game with Brodan Salmond suffering the loss in net for the Rockets. 

Kelowna has just three games remaining in the WHL regular season, two of them at Prospera Place this week. 

The Rockets host Victoria on Wednesday and then close out the regular season next weekend with a home and home against Vancouver, hosting the Giants on Saturday night at Prospera Place.
