Nickalena Bedwell and her fiancé, Tom, held their wedding at the bedside of Bedwell’s father, also named Tom, on March 7.

The decision to have the wedding earlier came after Bedwell’s father found himself in the hospital after a series of health complications.

“I didn’t want him to miss out on it,” Bedwell told WHO News.

The groom said it was a moment they will both cherish forever.

“It was a sad situation, but I mean it was definitely a happy moment,” Bedwell’s husband said. “There was a lot of laughs. It was the one day where there wasn’t a whole lot of crying and the sadness just kind of went away.”

With her not-yet-fitted bride dress on and a bouquet of flowers in her hand, Bedwell and Tom said “I do” to each other in the hospital room.
