AMHERSTBURG, Ont. – A southwestern Ontario town says some residents may be left in the lurch now that its only taxi company has shut down.

South Shore Taxi ceased operations in Amherstburg on Friday and returned its four taxi licences to the town.

Mayor Aldo DiCarlo says he’s concerned because “there’s always going to be people who need a ride,” especially those without cars or seniors who can’t drive.

He says he’s hoping someone will step forward to take over the taxi service.
