KELOWNA — Shoppers in the Okanagan will now be able to pick up a bottle of wine alongside their eggs and produce.
Save-On-Foods in Kelowna’s Orchard Plaza is the first supermarket to sell B.C. VQA wine in the valley.
A large crowd gathered as Save-On-Foods President Darrell Jones, B.C. Premier Christy Clark and other dignitaries unveiled the wine section.
“We are so grateful to the B.C. government for its support in extending this convenience to our customers, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the absolutely amazing selection of B.C. VQA Wines in our stores provided by our friends and neighbours at local wineries,” says Jones.
On Thursday, the province released details of the next step in moving some sales of 100 per cent B.C. wines onto designated shelves in specific supermarkets.
“More wine-in-grocery stores are opening across B.C. and we are pleased to see B.C. VQA Wine become even more accessible to consumers right here in Wine Country,” says Miles Prodan, President the B.C. Wine Institute.
The Kelowna grocery store is the fifth Save-On-Foods store to sell 100 per cent B.C. wine.
