Passengers on the bus say the vehicle lurched to a stop, but they did not immediately see what the bus struck.

The woman lay on the ground, her head surrounded by blood, just two metres from a marked crosswalk on Richter.

Charlie Flyy, a passenger who said he knows first aid, told Global Okanagan he assisted an off-duty nurse in attending to the conscious woman after the bus driver called 911.

She had lacerations on her face, a bloody nose and chin, according to Flynn.

“I she knew her name, she knew where she was. She said she was going to the symphony,” said Flynn.

An RCMP officer at the scene said the woman may not have been seriously injured, despite the site of the blood.

The victim was taken to Kelowna General Hospital.

Those on the bus were left on the sidewalk waiting for Kelowna Transit to help them find another way to their destination.

RCMP continue to investigate.
