The preliminary hearing for William Sandeson, charged in the death of a Dalhousie University student, is scheduled to start Monday morning in Halifax.
The 23-year-old is facing a charge of first-degree murder and this hearing will determine if there is enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial.

Sandeson was enrolled as a medical student at Dalhousie University. He was arrested in August, four days after fellow Dalhousie University student Taylor Samson was reported missing.
Police believe Sandeson killed Samson but have never said how.
Investigators have executed a number of search warrants in the case. They even spent time scouring a property in Lower Truro, N.S., that belongs to Sandeson’s family.

Despite the exhaustive search, officers have never been able to locate Samson’s remains.
Sandeson has been in jail since his arrest last summer. He applied for bail in October, but a Supreme Court judge denied his application.
