Federal Election 2015: Davenport riding results

Real time live results available on Monday, October 19 2015 after polls close. Overall results will be available here.

Summary: A multicultural, diverse riding, Davenport is one of many “416 ridings” the Liberals are hoping to reclaim in 2015.

Boundaries: A small riding on Toronto’s west-end, Davenport is bordered by a CN line to the west, Dufferin Street to the east, Eglinton Avenue in the north.

Last Election: NDP candidate Andrew Cash ended a 49-year dynasty for the Liberals in Davenport, defeating three-term MP Mario Silva by 25.8 per cent.

History: The Liberals held this riding from 1962 to 2011, mostly under Charles Caccia, who was MP for Davenport from 1968 to 2004. In their 16 straight victories, the Liberals never won by less than 10 per cent.

Demographics: The riding has a heavy Portuguese heritage—according to the 2011 National Household Survey, 14.85 per cent of people in Davenport were born in Portugal, by far the highest number in Canada. The riding is also the only one in Toronto to report a falling population between 2006 and 2011, when it fell by 2.2 per cent.
