Federal Election 2015: Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner riding results

Summary: This is a new riding for 2015. Conservative MP LaVar Payne, who represented the former riding of Medicine Hat since 2008, is not re-offering, but the boundary redistribution means Conservative MP Jim Hillyer, who was elected in 2011 in Lethbridge, will now run here.

Boundaries: This riding covers the southeast corner of Alberta, which was formerly represented in the ridings of Medicine Hat and Lethbridge.

Last Election: In 2011, voters who lived within the boundaries of this riding voted 68.7 per cent Conservative, and 14.9 per cent NDP.

History: This area has a history of electing MP’s from the right of the political spectrum. Conservative MP Monte Solberg represented Medicine Hat from 1993 until 2008. Lethbridge was represented by Conservative MP Rick Casson from 1997 to 2011.
