Homicide investigation underway after man’s death in Fort McMurray

EDMONTON — RCMP are investigating the death of a 22-year-old Fort McMurray man as a homicide.

Around 4 a.m. Tuesday, police were called to a “shots fired” complaint at an apartment complex on Clearwater Crescent in Fort McMurray.

The 22-year-old man was found inside the building suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound, RCMP said in a media release Wednesday.

The man was taken to hospital in Fort McMurray where he died.

RCMP do not believe the incident was random. Wood Buffalo RCMP General Investigation Section, Serious Crimes Unit and RCMP Edmonton Major Crimes Unit are involved in the investigation.

On Saturday, May 16, a man was found dead outside an apartment building on the same Fort McMurray crescent. Police say it is too early to tell if the investigations are connected.
