EDMONTON — Another cycle of neighbourhood blading is scheduled to begin on Tuesday.
Roadway maintenance crews will hit the streets at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday. Collector/bus routes that were already plowed during the last seasonal parking ban that ended Monday night won’t be bladed. Blading will continue until late Monday night.
Residential blading has moved to a fixed-day schedule this year, meaning roadway crews will always visit on the same day throughout the winter.
It is a 24-hour system, so snow removal crews could show up any time, whether it’s 1 a.m. or 11 p.m., on your scheduled day. Blading does not run on Saturday or Sunday.
Neighbourhood roads will be bladed to a 5 cm snow pack, not down to the asphalt.
Parking is not banned during residential blading, but crews ask drivers to move their vehicles off the street wherever possible so trucks can blade curb to curb.
In additional to next week’s blading, road crews will also pick up windrows from around local schools. The work will be done overnight and temporary no-parking signs will be placed along the planned removal routes.
