A seven-year-old is among two people dead after a vehicle crashed down a steep embankment near Lillooet Friday afternoon.
The 2005 Toyota Sequoia the two were in was carrying five people and travelling south on Highway 99 when it sideswiped another vehicle travelling north. The collision sent the Sequoia down a cliff to the shores of the Fraser River.
According to Lillooet RCMP Sgt. Mike Eling, the driver of the vehicle managed to escape in stable condition along with his 11 and 4-year-old daughters.
Unfortunately, the seven-year-old-boy and a 46-year-old-female in the SUV died at the scene.
Heavy snowfall is believed to be a factor in the accident, but police are continuing to investigate. They do not believe alcohol contributed to the crash.
