WATCH ABOVE: Environmentalists are saying they’ll do whatever they can to stop Kinder Morgan from placing their new pipeline in provincial parks. Ted Chernecki reports.
Environmentalists are sounding the alarm after Kinder Morgan formally asked the province to allow the proposed Trans Mountain pipeline to pass through several provincial parks.
“We will fight tooth and nail to stop industrial activity in any park,” says Eoin Madden of the Wildneress Committee.
“We didn’t fight to create protected areas in parks so they could become an easy target for industrial activity. That’s exactly what they’re not.”

Kinder Morgan has asked the provincial government for access to three provincial parks and one protected grassland under the Provincial Protected Area Boundary Adjustment Policy. They are:
- Finn Creek Provincial Park
- North Thompson River Provincial Park
- Lac Du Bois Grasslands Protected Area
- Bridal Veil Falls Provincial Park
Kinder Morgan plans to double their existing pipeline, tripling Trans Mountain’s capacity to 890,000 barrels a day. The application is subject to court challenges and National Energy Board approval.
