EDMONTON – The Edmonton Police Service is issuing a warning about a violent offender who officers believe poses a significant risk to the community.
Dennis Rodney Cardinal, who also goes by Dennis Lajimodiere, is being released from the Port-Cartier Institution in Quebec and will be living in the Edmonton area.
He has completed a nearly nine-year sentence for manslaughter, possession of a weapon, assault with a weapon, assaulting a peace officer, uttering threats to cause death or harm, failing to comply with a probation order, and failing to comply with a recognizance order.
Police say Cardinal will be closely monitored by the EPS Behavioural Assessment Unit.
He is described as 5’5″ tall, weighing about 200 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair.
Police say it’s in the public’s best interest to be informed of Cardinal’s release, but the warning is not meant to encourage people to engage in any form of vigilante action.
