In a release on Saturday evening, police said preliminary findings revealed that a semi-truck was parked on the side of the road because of mechanical issues. The 24-year-old driver, a resident of Winnipeg, was placing security cones around the truck when he was struck by a northbound vehicle.
The Winnipeg resident was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle stayed on scene and waited for police, the release said. They are not suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol at this time, police added.
