U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen condemned the ambush of an officer in Northern Ireland last Wednesday after the New Irish Republican Army (IRA) claimed responsibility for the shooting. Von der Leyen told reporters “violence has no place in our society,” while Sunak said “those trying to drag us back into the past will never succeed.”
