Trudeau reassures Canadians of “elections integrity” amid allegations of Chinese interference

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reassured Canadians on Wednesday to have confidence in the integrity of the 2019 and 2021 election results after a panel investigation concluded there was no foreign interference in the elections. This comes after Global News reported that a prominent businessman in Toronto’s Chinese community is the subject of two separate investigations involving foreign interference, both related to a series of briefings and memos that Canadian security officials allegedly gave to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau beginning in January. Trudeau denied receiving any briefings on federal election candidates who allegedly received funds from China in the 2019 federal election.
