Vancouver businessman banned from U.S. says military conscription isn’t a crime

Ali Movassagh, who owns a plumbing, heating and HVAC business in Burnaby, B.C., was deemed inadmissible to the United States in June of 2021 while trying to visit his ageing parents in California. His ban is linked to his military conscription in Iran more than 20 years ago – a matter in which he had no choice.
