NDP MP Heather McPherson said the Liberal government’s creation of an independent position in 2018 to investigate human rights violations abroad, the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise (CORE), has “failed to give the Ombudsperson the ability to compel documents, the ability to compel witnesses,” she said on Tuesday.
