Addressing the security situation in Afghanistan on Monday, U.S. President Joe Biden said the response would be “swift and forceful” if the Taliban targeted Americans or disrupted U.S. operations as it works to evacuate its people. Biden also said the Afghan government had asked the U.S. not to start evacuations earlier to avoid a “crisis in confidence.”
