Global News Morning Peterborough: Marking National Indigenous Peoples Day

June 21 is recognized as National Indigenous Peoples Day, a day to acknowledge and celebrate Canada’s First Nations.
But this year it takes a stronger significance as Canadians continue to grapple with the discovery of the remains of 215 children at a former Residential School in Kamloops, British Columbia.
David Newhouse, chairperson of the Chanie Wenjack School of Indigenous Studies at Trent University, spoke with Teresa Kaszuba about what the day means.
