EU recommends opening up to foreign travellers this summer amid COVID-19

The European Union’s executive body on Monday recommended easing COVID-19 travel restrictions next month to let foreign travellers from more countries enter the bloc, hoping to boost the stricken tourism industry this summer. Under the new proposals, which still require approval by the 27 member states, fully vaccinated foreign citizens and those from countries with a “good epidemiological situation” would be allowed to travel to the EU.
