Coronavirus: Trump asserts schools should reopen because children ‘don’t get very sick’

U.S. President Donald Trump asserted on Monday that schools should reopen because children are less likely than adults to contract COVID-19. Recent data has shown the number of new COVID-19 cases among children in the U.S. rose 40 per cent in the last two weeks of July. Trump said that the numbers did not give him pause, adding that “there’s a tiny fraction of death” and that “they get better very quickly.”
