Republican congressman asks Google to commit to not adopting ‘anti-police policies’

During a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee, Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida on Wednesday asked Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Alphabet which is the parent company of Google, about a letter from members of the public asking them to exit partnerships like with U.S. law enforcement, and questioned if the technology giant would pledge to not adopt “bigoted anti-police policies.” Pichai responded, saying they had a track record of working with law enforcement when supported by due process and said they were committed to working with law enforcement “in a way that’s consistent with law and due processes” in the U.S.
