Facebook closes loophole in political ads ahead of U.S. election

Facebook said on Wednesday that it had closed a big political advertisement loophole ahead of the 2020 U.S. presidential election, which would see labels affixed to ads shared by users on their own feeds. The label has been in place since 2018, showing a “paid for by” disclaimer to political ads, but the label would disappear when people shared the ads to their feeds, with the company saying this will no longer be the case.
