Coronavirus: WHO stresses dexamethasone ‘purely’ for use under clinical supervision

Dr. Mike Ryan, executive director of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) health emergencies program, stressed on Wednesday that the drug dexamethasone is just one of many breakthroughs needed to “effectively deal” with COVID-19. He added that it should only be used under “close clinical supervision” and that it has only been shown to be useful in the treatment of patients who are severely ill.
