Police fired tear gas to disperse anti-racism protesters in Paris on Tuesday during a demonstration against the killing of Black Frenchman Adama Traore, who died in a 2016 police operation. Earlier on Tuesday, Paris police banned the gathering in memory of Traore, a 24-year old Black Frenchman, which some have likened to the death of George Floyd, who died in police custody on Memorial Day after an officer kneeled on his neck for several minutes. The Paris police department said in a statement that there were risks of social disorder and health dangers from large gatherings due to the coronavirus pandemic.
