Newly-released video from November of 2017, released on Monday by the Glynn County Police Department, appears to show an encounter between Ahmaud Arbery and police during a traffic stop in Brunswick, Georgia. At one point in the video, one of the officers appears to try and stun him with a taser after he declines to allow them to search his vehicle. According to a report from the Glynn County Police Department, the officer’s directed energy weapon malfunctioned. According to police, police eventually let him go after he once again refused a search of his car, and he was not charged. Arbery, 25, was shot and killed on February 23, 2020, after being pursued by armed men through the suburban neighborhood where he lived outside Brunswick.
