Coronavirus outbreak: China criticizes U.S. for making ‘shameless’ comments on data transparency

On Thursday, Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying sharply criticized U.S. officials who cast doubts on the country’s disclosure of COVID-19 data, calling the comments “shameless” and “morally repulsive.” The outbreak began in China in late 2019, but Beijing has reported fewer cases and deaths than in the United States, which has surpassed 200,000 confirmed cases, making it the world’s largest outbreak.
