Coronavirus outbreak: U.S. Senate debates $1 trillion stimulus bill for Americans impacted by COVID-19 pandemic

Republican and Democratic leaders of the U.S. Senate sat down to try to clinch a deal on a $1 trillion-plus bill aimed at limiting the novel coronavirus pandemic’s toll on the U.S. economy.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said on Tuesday that Democrats and Republicans are nearing an agreement on a massive economic stimulus to help Americans after several days of negotiations between both sides.
The virus has killed at least 380 and sickened more than 25,000 people across the United States, leading governors and mayors to shut schools, businesses and many aspects of American life.
