Seniors groups crucial in battling winter blues
As snow and ice move in, more and more seniors find it harder to be active and social in their communities. Mapleridge Seniors Recreation Centre is getting ready for its fundraising Christmas Market but the team is also watching the weather. Seniors centres offer physical, social and intellectual engagement indoors during the winter months, and that means better health and quality of life overall. Mapleridge GM Heather McGinn regularly sees the transformation from isolated to community-connected for seniors who have access to activity and social centres.
