Business Matters: Canada’s economy sheds 66,000 jobs in August

Unemployment was up for the second straight month in Canada and August reached the highest level since 2016, outside of the pandemic years, according to new data. Statistics Canada reported that the national jobless rate climbed to 7.1 per cent last month, from 6.9 per cent in July.
