Testifying to the House of Commons ethics committee, Canada's privacy commissioner Philippe Dufresne acknowledged to MPs that the federal government's order for TikTok to wind down its Canadian operations will make it harder for his office to compel the company to cooperate with future investigations. The government's order in November came after a national security review into TikTok and its Chinese owner ByteDance, but Ottawa said it will still allow Canadians to use the app.
